It only figures Jay’s house is set in the quiet, upscale neighborhood of Brentwood — home to some of the most elegant and architecturally distinct mansions we’ve featured on our website. In reality, the property that serves as Jay’s home is much bigger than what we see on the show; exterior shots only captured parts of the Brentwood property. The status is reflected even in the choice of location, as the real-life Pritchett house is located 121 S. Mitchell lives in a most quaint and beautiful duplex, while his sister, Claire, owns a spacious, traditional family home (no doubt bought at a good price, if her Realtor husband had a say). The successful patriarch of the family, Jay, lives in the nicest house — which just so happens to reflect his status and wealth, as well as the new life he’s embarked on alongside his new family. The houses themselves speak volumes about the characters, and played a crucial role in the show’s successful 11-season run.

I’ve scoured every corner of the Simiverse to bring you a list of the best Sims 4 family houses for any taste. From massive mansions that scream, “I’m a Sim, and I’m fabulous! ” to cozy cottages that whisper, “Welcome home, Sim family,” you’ve got it all.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a gym, a spa area, a gorgeous pool, and a sun deck. With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, it’s the perfect family home. But throughout the show, Cameron (played by Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) occupy a single floor, consisting of one living room, a kitchen (that we already know Cam hates to clean), a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a garage. With the homes serving as backdrop for most of the scenes, it only makes sense that real-life properties were used in the making of the show — even if it was mostly outdoor shots that were filmed on location, with the interiors being created on studio sets. On the house’s first floor, there is a kitchen combined with a living room, as well as a bathroom and one bedroom. Then, on the second floor, you’ll find one exceptionally shaped bedroom equipped with a workspace and another bathroom. And don’t forget about the basement suite, with its own fully functional living space with a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room! This is perfect for independent teenagers or grandparents who love some space and much-needed privacy. This lovely suburban house can be the perfect fit for your sims! The house is very spacious (fits on a 30×20 lot), so there is enough room to house up to 8 sims + pets.

The home’s exterior has a more rustic feel with brick and wood details. Another prominent location that’s made its way to our screens is the Palisades Charter High School, which has been used for the exteriors of Luke and Manny’s school. In fact, the show’s producers have taken extra measures to ensure that that’s the case, with the Dunphy’s home interiors basically screaming ‘catalog-order finishings’.

This smaller home can accommodate a family of three or four sims. If the parents need some peace at night, this house layout conveniently has the primary bedroom on the main floor. The floor plan is closed up, with each room having its own space.

“We want to make it exciting and give people more of a show while they’re eating and drinking,” Boyd said. He acknowledged that Charlotte has lots of places to eat and listen to music, but upscale places that cater to Black customers are few and far between, he said. charlotte trash pickup schedule

The weight of your yard waste, including limbs, must never exceed over 75 pounds. Only 2 city-issued garbage carts will be picked up once a week. It is worth mentioning that other than city-issued bags or carts will not be picked by the Department of Solid Waste Services. That’s why knowing about Charlotte’s trash pickup schedule is essential. If you don’t roll out your garbage at the curb the day before collection and forget to remove it by midnight after collection day, you’ll end up with a $150 fine. It will take some time to deliver all of the trash carts to people who live in the city.

The carts will also prevent animals from ripping into plastic trash bags and allowing trash to blow through neighborhoods. Public Works also indicated the move will increase the effectiveness of track pickup, improve service delivery and reduce employee injury and staff turnover. Residential improved properties are allowed 4 cubic yards of bulk item pickup per week. The items must originate from the improved property that is assessed an annual sanitation fee and placed in front of the property. Residents must pay a fee and fill out an application for bulky waste removal.

The four frameworks are Lexile, Fountas & Pinnell/Guided, Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA), and Accelerated Reader(AR). To make things easier, I’ll list the score for each one (where available,) and I’ll also include the book’s recommended age range in years. There are so many Magic Treehouse books to choose from, but they’re not all suitable for the same age range or ability.

A Full List of The Magic Treehouse Books and Their Reading Levels

All of the books in the series center around the time travel adventures of brother and sister Jack and Annie, who live in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania. Thanks to the book-filled magic tree house whose books have magical properties and whose owner, magical librarian Morgan le Fay provides them with exciting missions, the two have many exciting adventures. Each book focuses on a subject and story designed to pique the interest of young independent readers.

They also have smaller print, more words on each page, more challenging vocabulary, and a more advanced reading level. Below, I’ll list the two separate fiction series and explain the recommended reading levels for each one. Mary Pope Osborne’s The Magic Tree House is one of the most beloved series in children’s literature. These classic stories, illustrated by Salvatore Murdocca, have captivated kids since the first book was published back in the early 90s, and they’re still going strong today. Writing children's books was a perfect career for Mary because she could still travel all over the world — but be back home in time for dinner.

Join our email list and get free printable bookmarks!

These books make wonderful chapter books for first and second graders (or advanced kindergartners) to read alone, or for parents of young school children to read aloud. There's something in the Magic Tree House series for every kid to learn, whether it's about nature, historical events, cultural traditions, or animals. The formula that all of the books follow may seem repetitive to parents, but kids find these books both fascinating and comforting because they know Jack and Annie will always get home safely to Frog Creek. So, while the original series is suitable for competent readers aged six and above, the Merlin Missions books are tailored to seven to ten-year-olds. Children who struggle with reading may want to wait until they are even older to tackle this series and instead work their way through the original chapter books first. Once they’ve mastered those, they should be ready to move on up to this big-kid series.

Ask them to tell you about Jack and Annie's latest adventure, what it was all about, and what they learned. For kids who prefer nonfiction or who want to know more about the subject of the Magic Tree House book they just read, see if there is a Magic Tree House Fact Tracker nonfiction companion research guide. Magic Tree House books #1 to 28 are generally between 65 and 75 pages long and target children 6 to 9.

In fact, Natalie says the research guides have been fun to write because many bring back memories of places where they've lived. For example, when it was time to work on Dolphins and Sharks, she remembered seeing dolphins leaping out of the water when her family's house was on the ocean in Virginia. The sight of them never failed to exciter her and her brothers and sister.

Salvatore (Sal) Murdocca grew up in Brooklyn, New York, back in the days when, as long as he showed up at school and the dinner table, a kid was pretty much free to do as he liked. And what Sal liked to do, when he wasn't out exploring with his friends, was to draw and paint. He worked hard at his art, treating every drawing like the most important project in the world. Annie and Jack travel to a long-ago Ireland to inspire Augusta to share her creativity with near calamitous results. How the sibling team solves the problem and achieves their mission is a worthy addition to the appealing Magic Tree House series. Annie and Jack go back in time to Camelot to a haunted castle to find the Stone of Destiny.

Note that a "CNB" (for "companion nonfiction book") at the end of each book listing means that there is a Magic Tree House Fact Tracker for that book. Don’t miss this exciting story during your read through of the Magic Tree House books in order. Mary Pope Osborne and her sister, Natalie Pope Boyce, acquired their sense of adventure throughout their childhood, which involved many moves due to their father’s job. Find out more about tornadoes and other major storms in this research guide that augments information introduced in Twister on Tuesday.

However, to provide incentive for kids to keep reading, there is an overarching mission for each four books, but it is still not necessary to read even each of those books in a particular order. The Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne has been popular since the first MTH book for young independent readers, Dinosaurs Before Dark, was published in 1992. These books are everything you know and love from the original series, but have more challenging adventures for an experienced reader. The novels are longer chapter books that are perfect for a reader looking to take the next step with their reading difficulty level. The novels focus on travel to different places and times, and much of this adventure streak is based on Osborne's life.

#M01, Christmas in Camelot

This larger-than-life story is actually a tall tale, an urban legend based on a real firefighter who lived in the 1840s. Text and illustration combine to create a fast-paced celebration of heroism and the man who earned the gratitude of an entire city. Realistic watercolors present the summer celebration a boy shares with his family on the 4th of July. The day’s activities range from a pet parade and games to a barbeque and concert. The patriotic performance concludes with fireworks, after which the family returns home, tired but happy. The books are available in paperback, library binding, and as audiobooks and eBooks.

Natalie Pope Boyce

With Jack and Annie, she has traveled through time, from the prehistoric land of dinosaurs to the imaginary world of Camelot. But one of the greatest adventures of Mary's writing life is the creative journey she takes with her readers, meeting them in person in schools and bookstores and reading the wonderful stories and letters they send. The story typically starts with Jack and Annie in the treehouse, perusing books to see where they might want to visit.

Heroes for All Times

Once they decide on a place, they are magically whisked away to their destination. Jack uses the book as a guide to give them more information about their newest location. Annie tends to run off to explore, and Jack, grumbling, follows along to keep a record. They usually will encounter trouble at some point and narrowly escape, but always make it back to the tree house. Upon their return home, no time has passed, and they are already considering their next adventure.

They typically run into some trouble but manage to narrowly escape back to their treehouse. Once they return home, no time has passed, and they consider their next adventure. Still, the two most notable characters are Jack, a slightly shy but inquisitive older brother, and his younger sister, Annie, who loves adventure and meeting new people. Together, the siblings tackle the complexities of the past and solve quests for Morgan le Fay and, later in the Merlin Missions series, Merlin the Magician.

The subjects and time periods vary widely, which means that there will most likely be some, or many, of particular interest to your child. In 2000, the first two Magic Tree House Fact Trackers came out, cowritten by Mary Pope Osborne and her husband, Will Osborne. These nonfiction compilations to the Magic Tree House books give readers a fun and easy way to find out more about their favorite places, time periods, and subjects. After the first eight titles, Mary's sister, Natalie Pope Boyce, came on board to coauthor with Mary. The MAGIC TREE HOUSE series begins with the story of how, one day in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania, 8-year-old Jack and 7-year-old Annie discover a tree house in the woods near their home. In later books called the Merlin Missions, the kids are guided by Merlin the Magician.

Music, mystery, and ghosts combine for another riveting quest for the sibling adventurers. ” Jack wonders when the Magic Tree House whisks him and his sister to the vast plains of Africa. Before he can find out, Annie starts to help hundreds of wildebeests cross a rushing river. The Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie off to the moon — and the future.

A full set of books #1 to 28 in the Magic Tree series is also available in paperback. While you don’t have to read the Magic Tree House books in order, it is a very easy way to ensure you are joining Jack and Annie for each and every adventure. For that reason, below you will find summaries for the first 15 Magic Tree House books. Will Osborne and Mary Pope Osborne co-wrote the first eight books in the series, then Natalie Pope Boyce joined her sister for the publication of the ninth and all subsequent books.

The books are divided into brief chapters, each of which has one or more intriguing illustrations by Sal Murdocca, the illustrator for all of the MTH books. Your children will enjoy the games, activities and fun, all related to books in the series and the subjects they cover, at the Random House Magic Tree House site. The books that have taken Mary to the most places are the Magic Tree House series.

It is relatively easy to read the Magic Tree House books in order as the series is numbered, although you may run into some issues if you find older editions from before the rebrand. While it is not necessary to read the books in order, doing so does create a special connection with the books and characters. The series itself is very family-oriented with siblings Jack and Annie discovering the Magic Tree House and their ensuing adventures through space and time, but the creation of the series is also a family affair.

While outside, they encounter a moonman who draws a constellation map for the children. They connect the stars to draw a mouse and realize Peanut is the final M. She turns into Morgan le Fay and tells them that the spell has been broken.

Japan has created a Magic Tree House anime, and the Christmas in Camelot novel has been adapted into a musical. There is also a planetarium show where viewers can follow along with Jack and Annie as they travel to space. Theatrical performances are based on novels like Pirates Past Noon or A Ghost Tale for Christmas Time, and there is even an animated film based on the series.

While Mary Pope Osborne wrote with her husband Will Osborne for the first eight Fact Tracker books, her sister then joined her and has co-written the subsequent books in the series. Whether you’re looking to pass on this tradition to the next generation, or take a walk down memory lane yourself, keep reading to find out more about all the Magic Tree House books in order. Another example is Midnight on the Moon, where Jack, Annie, and Peanut, the mouse, travel to the future to locate an M object to free Morgan le Fay from a spell. They land on a space station on the mood, and Jack and Annie put on spacesuits to find the final M object.

magic tree house reading level

The original books are generally suited to children aged between six and ten years old who can read independently. Having said that, every kid is different, and reading ability and age don’t always correlate in the same way. For example, some kids are already quite advanced in their reading at five years old and could well be ready to embark on their first-ever Magic Treehouse adventure. In this Magic Tree House book, siblings Jack and Annie time travel to ancient Greece to help Alexander the Great, successfully read by the book’s author.

These books are more fantastical and sophisticated, to appeal to slightly older readers. In order for children to learn to be fluent readers, with good comprehension skills, they need to read a lot. When children are relatively new readers, they need to concentrate on decoding each word and comprehending what they are reading without a lot of distractions. It helps if they can find a series they like at a reading level they can comfortably read.

Chief Johnny Jennings said Hughes was wanted for possession of a firearm by a felon and felony fleeing to elude out of Lincoln County, and that he used a “high-powered rifle” in the attack. When Chef Bruce Moffett opened this eatery in 2009, the name was a nod to the dearth of good food in the neighborhood. I am deeply saddened by the shooting that occurred that involved Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers and US Marshals today. I ask that all Charlotteans keep them, the other injured officers, and their families in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. The suspect died in the front yard of the home on Galway Drive, Jennings said. Gov. Roy Cooper is in Charlotte and is being briefed on the situation. He plans to meet with officials and families of the victims. The suspect who died was Terry Clark Hughes, Jr, 39. Two of the officers were with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. Just before 5 p.m., authorities said the home where the shooting happened was clear and the area was safe.

Marshal killed in the line of duty was in February 2022 in Nevada. Gov. Roy Cooper said he has offered any state resources that local agencies might need. Officers are treating the investigation as a barricaded suspect situation. Police again said the scene was still active and will release more information shortly. CMPD said officers are questioning two other people inside the home.

At least one of the shooting suspects was found dead at the scene, a home on Galway Drive, CMPD said. CMPD is not yet releasing the agency of the surviving officer who is part of the task force. “Today, we lost some heroes that are out trying to simply keep our community safe,” said CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings. The true joy of House of Mandi is sitting around a low table with a group of friends, sampling a table full of different flavors and items. Going solo, or even as a pair, will likely result in lots of leftovers and a less satisfying meal. Luckily, for many Bruins, going into Westwood for a meal can serve as a social occasion. The menu features a variety of Yemeni dishes in addition to mandi, including haneeth – a slow-roasted lamb dish – and shafoot, a yogurt-based appetizer. It serves desserts such as masoob – a banana-based pudding – and sabaya, a Yemeni pastry. The restaurant also offers sharing meals and traditional teas and coffee.

He pointed me toward fahsa, lamb stew rushed to the table roiling volcanically in a stone pot, the way soondubu arrives erupting in Korean restaurants. Despite these service errors, the restaurant is among the most homey in Westwood. Seats and tables throughout feature an eye-catching red carpet pattern, while elegant wall art and pleasant framed pictures pop along the red-brick walls. The back corner features several floor-level tables fit for large groups. Everything about the restaurant’s design, from the cushioned chairs to the prayer space, gives customers a comfortable experience.

The cool yogurt flavor is always refreshing after sampling the hotter dishes, and the spice mix leaves a pleasant aftertaste as the initial flavors subside. The vegetables used in the shafoot and throughout the menu are particularly juicy and very refreshing, making the $3 salad a light accompaniment to any meal. The salad pairs well with the mandi – a traditional Yemeni dish of tender meat served atop a bed of long-grain rice – the restaurant’s namesake. The tender lamb mandi falls off the bone, with the excellent flavor of the lamb speaking for itself without intense seasoning. On the other hand, the rice is immensely flavorful without being overwhelmingly greasy. The saltiness of the rice becomes somewhat fatiguing over time, but it serves as a solid accompaniment to the mandi’s meat.

At House of Mandi, we strive to create a memorable dining experience for each and every one of our guests. From the moment you step through our doors, our warm and inviting ambiance welcomes you, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. Our attentive and friendly staff are dedicated to providing exceptional service, ensuring that you feel well taken care of from the beginning to the end of your dining journey. We invite you to join us and experience the delight of our exceptional dishes, prepared with passion and served with genuine hospitality.

Sliced, seasoned lamb meat served with baked and fried basmati rice. The appetizer menu offers plenty of options to help cool down, including shareable plates of hummus, salad, soup and more for prices usually below $10. The shafoot, a huge portion of chilled yogurt with vegetables and spices mixed throughout, is another enticing dip for the bread.

Alkabass also said the restaurant’s opening has been positively received by the Westwood community. He added that he hopes to incorporate more affordable options for students in its menu by offering different portion sizes. If you’re driving back to Los Angeles after banqueting on a blur of rice and bread and meats, I recommend the jolt of caffeine. Shafoot, a salad of herbed yogurt and cucumbers layered over delicate crepes that bring to mind extra-thin injera, moves in like a cold front between mouthfuls of stew. During the restaurant’s open buffet for Ramadan, there was a line of people standing outside, and the restaurant was fully booked, Alkabass said. Rivera said he enjoyed the interior design of the restaurant, adding that he plans to return and bring his coworkers to try the cuisine.

We started as pioneers of this food with our first branch in Karachi with an aim to change the traditional style of dining by providing a unique dining experience. Every dish is prepared with perfection as we serve the finest authentic Arabian Cuisine and our rich flavours gave drawn people from all over to come and experience the flavours of Middle East. Many versions blaze with green chile; House of Mandi uses tomato and, while it has some flicker, it’s easy to use liberally. Once the fahsa cools you might eat it half with a spoon and half with the Yemeni flatbread delivered and replaced frequently by the staff. Wider than a basketball hoop and blistered near the center, it’s best when it’s as fresh from the oven as your fingers can handle. Similar to covered-oven traditions that extend back to Mayan culture, the meats and rice for mandi have historically been cooked in pits over coals.

Baked, seasoned Middle Eastern fish served open face with Sriracha sauce. 2 grilled skewers with ground beef, marinated and spiced. Grilled Chicken served on a bed of flavored mandi Rice and Sauces. Mutton meat marinated in traditional mandi spices and steamed to perfection. The restaurant has been busy with students, said Mohammed al Seragi, the manager of the House of Mandi location in Anaheim.

A core clientele of families and friends gravitate to the Yemeni-style floor seating in one corner, relaxing on cushions patterned in red, black and white. They linger over platters, often finishing with sips of black tea piney from cardamom or strong coffee served with dates. These design choices undeniably play into the restaurant’s strengths.

For the fascinating history of Biryani, please see //localfoodeater.com/mandi-biryani-at-home-in…/. Floating atop the stew, melting but also astonishingly intact, is hilba, a scallion-flecked condiment made by soaking ground fenugreek in water and then beating it to the fluffy consistency of Cool Whip. Dairy-free cooks in search of an improbably creamy, savory garnish might want to experiment further with this miracle of science. I noticed instructions for hilba in “Sifratna,” an excellent cookbook on Yemeni food by Amjaad Al Hussain.

The same wait staff did not serve the table’s lamb mandi for around an hour. Their apology after being asked about it implied they had forgotten about it. Luckily, each table can grab the attention of a waiter using a service button attached to each napkin dispenser. While potentially uncomfortable to use, they are certainly useful in the restaurant’s relatively large floor space. Customers will certainly want to order a variety of items. The Hrada of Seltah, a vegetable stew with finely chopped potatoes, okra and ground beef, came out of the kitchen still boiling.

Take the little guy in a high chair at the next table. He had already redone the wall of artifacts behind him and the plate of food in front of him by the time his family was leaving, all of which were now on the floor under the table. Cube of cotage cooked in tandoori mixed with onions, tomatoes and spices in tawa. The first House of Mandi opened in Anaheim four years ago with the Westwood location serving as the restaurant’s second, Alkabass said.

Al Seragi, who is also from Yemen, said both Arab and non-Arab students have enjoyed House of Mandi’s menu. Alkabass said despite the presence of Yemeni restaurants in the United States, he could not find an authentic Yemeni flavor at any he had tried. Noting the difficulty of finding a chef, he said the restaurant decided to hire chefs Om Fayad and Zumzum Omer, who moved directly from Yemen and Eritrea, respectively. The restaurant, which opened March 15, features traditional Arabic seating and music along with its Yemeni menu. Located on Gayley Avenue, the interior of House of Mandi displays colorfully patterned cushions and tables. Their modern adaptation of mandi might lack the smoldering fragrance of the original method, but the meats emerge uniformly lush and a hint of smokiness threads through the spices.

Sliced, seasoned chicken meat served with baked and fried basmati rice. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m.; its breakfast options appeal any time of day. (Al Hussain notes in her book that her family frequently enjoys morning dishes for dinner.) Ubiquitous shakshouka comes in scrambled form, the medium-firm curds gripping diced tomatoes and onions. A soothing, pureed version of foul (dried fava beans) with a generous glug of olive oil is ideal for dipping bread. In this mix I also love an order of spiced lamb liver sauteed with onions and tomatoes. Its iron richness rings strong and true among the other flavors.

Lamb Haneeth was the second version of the special traditional dish with lamb from the city of Sana’a in Yemen. A very young fresh lamb is gently roasted in an underground oven until the ultra-tender meat falls off the bone. It is served hot, wrapped in foil, and served over Mandi rice, that is dotted with slivered almonds and yellow raisins. Little tubs of Yemeni sauce and Yogurt are on the table. The huge platter arrived at the same time as a pretty woven basket of bread.

Chicken in a unique blend of mixed pickle and spices, prepared to a special authentic recipe by our chef. House of Mandi opened its doors on March 15 near the corner of Gayley and Kinross Avenue, a brief walk from the university apartments. Owner Faris Alkabass developed the restaurant as a space for authentic Yemeni cuisine in the United States. It captures this vision with style, offering a focused menu in a welcoming atmosphere.

The broth, which was hearty and meaty without being overly salty, paired well with the slightly fluffy chapati flatbread, served a la carte or as a fitting accompaniment to several items. The potatoes perfectly absorbed the flavor of the broth and other ingredients, while pieces of pepper gave some bites a sinus-clearing spiciness. Prices may initially seem steep for college students’ budgets. For example, portions of the restaurant’s signature mandi dishes range from $26 to $35.

But these dishes are meant to be shared, with plates typically served to the center of the table rather than as entrees for individuals. A group of three or four diners can satisfyingly share a main dish, a couple smaller items, and some drinks for less than $100, making it House of Mandi comparable to other sit-down restaurants in Westwood. Between family visits to theme parks or HR summits at the convention center, there’s a good chance that, if you’re in Anaheim, you’re with a lot of people. And that makes finding a big group dinner spot important. This Yemeni restaurant in Little Arabia is a community tentpole where showing up with a crowd is almost mandatory.

We say that because the menu centers around namesake mandi spreads that feed 3 to 18 people. You’ll find them made with tender whole roasted lamb, chicken, or fish, piled on a mountain of fragrant rice with soft Yemeni bread you can measure by the yard. Also, it feels like a typo, but this place is open nightly until 4am. I mentioned most customers come for an unhurried meal. The pace of the restaurant is leisurely in general; if you need to be in and out in a flash, call ahead for carryout. Most of the dining space has Western-style tables and chairs.

So many meaty, half-buried forms jut out from the grains that the eyes have trouble landing. Probably with a chicken leg, its skin crisp-soft and nearly orange from a cumin-forward spice rub. Next, reach for a forkful of lamb tugged from a shank and coupled with a stray almond sliver. Spoon sides of minted yogurt and tomato-chile chutney over the rice, making it as saucy as you like and tinkering with interplays of hot and cool. Mixture of chickpeas and fava beans finely ground with fresh herbs and mixed with spices.

Cruise Balcony & Club Balcony Suites Norwegian Cruise Line

norwegian cruise line rooms

They also make for a great place to sip your morning cup of coffee in peace while watching your ship pull into port. The primary reason to consider booking an ocean view cabin is if you are set on having an exterior view but do not want to pay for a balcony. Some ships, such as Norwegian Pearl, have obstructed ocean view rooms. These can sleep up to four guests and have either a picture window or porthole with an obstructed view, meaning that you will not get a clear view of the ocean. Among notable extras, the Garden Villas have private outdoor sundecks and courtyards with hot tubs.

The Haven Spa Suite

Most inside cabins on the ship used in the examples above, Norwegian Encore, measure just 149 square feet. That's about 7% smaller than the typical ocean-view cabin on the vessel, which measures 160 square feet. The typical balcony cabin on Norwegian Encore is 175 square feet, not including a 30- to 110-square-foot balcony. Norwegian Cruise Line offers an extensive variety of cruise staterooms to their guests. Every guest considering a cruise voyage with Norwegian Cruise Line will be able to find a cabin that fits their desires as well as needs.

Restaurants and dining

That's more than 13 times the cost of the least expensive inside cabin (which was starting at $1,058 per person, based on double occupancy). Oceanview cabins on the same sailing started at $1,698 per person, based on double occupancy. Norwegian designs its ships to appeal to a broad mix of people, in part by offering a wide range of cabin types at varying price points.

Our Ships

The percentage is even higher on the line's newest Breakaway-plus class vessels, at a very high 72%. The backstory here is that Norwegian ships are designed to appeal to a wide demographic, including travelers willing to spend at a wide range of price points. The family inside staterooms come complete with two beds that can be configured into a queen bed, or pulled apart to two separate beds.

The company dates back to 1966 when it got its start as a Norwegian shipping company. Today, it has become one of the more popular mainstream cruise brands and is part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, which also includes the Regent Seven Seas and Oceania brands. This may influence which products we review and write about (and where those products appear on the site), but it in no way affects our recommendations or advice, which are grounded in thousands of hours of research. Our partners cannot pay us to guarantee favorable reviews of their products or services.

We don't know whose idea it was to have the ship's slides run clear through several outdoor balconies, but we hope we see this rectified on future vessels in this class. If you are looking for the most luxurious cabins onboard, look no further than The Haven. While these are some of the most expensive cabins, you pay for more than just additional space; you are paying for an exclusive experience that comes with access to suite-only pool decks, 24-hour butler service, and more. Within each of the four broad categories of cabins on Norwegian ships, you'll find multiple subcategories. These staterooms offer all of the amenities of NCL’s Inside Staterooms, but feature windows that give guests a look out onto the ocean, may it be in the morning as they are getting ready for the day, or at night as they are falling asleep. The Family Oceanview rooms are capable of accommodating up to five guests.

Many of Norwegian's biggest ships have state-of-the-art theaters as big as those you'd find on Broadway, with big-name productions to match. Norwegian Bliss, for instance, has the Tony Award-winning "Jersey Boys." In a typical summer, the line will deploy nearly half its ships to Europe while sending several more to the West Coast to sail to Alaska from Seattle; Vancouver, British Columbia; and Seward, Alaska. It'll also operate trips to Bermuda from New York City and Boston, usually with two ships, and trips to the Bahamas and the Caribbean out of Miami. Norwegian thus appeals both to cruisers who like a giant resort vibe and those who prefer something more modest. The key, depending on your tastes, is getting on the right ship in the fleet.

Plus, you can take advantage of a dedicated solo lounge called the "Studio Complex and Lounge," where you can mingle with other guests traveling by themselves, order a drink, watch big-screen television, and more. You can expect to find the same basic amenities in all rooms, including an ensuite bathroom, vanity with mirror and chair, safe, mini-fridge, closet, television, and two twin beds that can either be kept apart or pushed together. On Carnival Cruise Line's 4-year-old Carnival Panorama, just 3% of cabins are suites. On newer Norwegian ships, the majority of the cabins are balcony cabins. Cruise lines over the years have discovered that cruisers will pay a significant premium to have a balcony with their cabin, and that's prompted a rush to add more balcony cabins to ships.

norwegian cruise line rooms

Norwegian is the world's fourth-largest cruise line by passenger capacity, with 19 ships that together offer 56,780 berths. H6 Penthouse Suites (aft location) feature large window views in the bathroom, which overlooks the veranda. Oceanview staterooms have large windows (44 of them are Family Oceanview- sleep 5 guests). We were surprised to see that most of the Haven's suites, save for the most high-end categories, have comparatively small balconies. Follow our social media and blog for the latest cruise and travel news, including our best vacation deals.

On some ships, you'll also find Ocean Blue, a seafood restaurant; The District Brew House, a gastropub serving craft beers; and a Mexican spot called either Los Lobos or Los Lobos Cantina. Every vessel has some sort of sushi restaurant, often called Sushi or Wasabi, and there are hibachi-style teppanyaki restaurants on nearly every Norwegian vessel. On Norwegian's recently built Breakaway Plus-class ships, there are up to 20 places to grab a bite, ranging from high-end French restaurants and steakhouses to casual pubs. However, unlike Royal Caribbean, Norwegian hasn't retained any of the trappings of old-style cruising. There are no formal nights, as you'll still find on Royal Caribbean ships, or dress codes.

Examine the ship’s layout to see where your cabin is in relation to key areas like the lido deck, dining rooms, and entertainment venues. Consider potential noise from above or below your cabin, especially if it’s immediately above or below a dance floor, crew area, or near the pool. Cabins located at the very front and very back of the ship will experience significantly more movement in the event of rough seas, so choose a cabin towards the middle of the ship if you’re facing multiple sea days or sailing off-season. Family Oceanview cabins for up to 5 passengers are 220 ft2 / 20 m2 in size. H7 Penthouse Suites (forward location) feature porthole window views in the bedroom, which overlooks the ship’s bow.

It can get as expensive as $9,000 per person if you want to book a Deluxe Owner's Suite with Large Balcony. Cruising in The Haven might mean that you're not able to cruise as frequently as you'd be able to in a standard stateroom. Balcony staterooms are some of the most desirable rooms and for good reason! With a private verandah attached directly to your cabin, you can breathe in fresh air whenever you would like.

Some Norwegian ships have up to four types of Penthouse suites available, for instance, and three kinds of family suites. The Garden Villas found on Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Star are truly stunning, with living areas with glass walls looking over the pool areas of the ships. They have as many as three bedrooms plus separate living rooms and dining rooms. Norwegian also offers four solo cabins on its Hawaii-based Pride of America. Your room will have four walls and no windows offering a glimpse of the outside world. In some cases, you'll find an inside cabin with a window opening up onto a hallway, but the view will be of nothing more than the hallway.

There's tons of great entertainment on Norwegian's vessels, plenty of venues for eating and drinking, and all sorts of deck-top diversions — at least on the line's newest ships. Throw in the brand's low starting prices, and it's an even more compelling package. If you're sure Norwegian is your line, look for a travel agent who specializes in trips with the brand. You want someone who understands all the little quirks that are unique to Norwegian's cabin categories and, preferably, has done ship inspections to see the cabins firsthand.

These complexes appeal to well-heeled travelers who want a luxury cruising experience while also getting all the fun attractions, entertainment and dining venues only a mass-market megaship can offer. NCL Getaway Spa cabins (36 Balcony, 20 Mini-Suites, 16 Haven Spa Suites) are on Deck 14, located adjacent to the spa/fitness complex. Guests in these category rooms enjoy complimentary Thermal Spa Suite access and amenities (plush bathrobes, slippers). These accommodations have king-sized beds, a separate dining area, in-suite jacuzzi, a bathroom with an oversized shower (waterfall shower-head, body jets, 2 sinks, plus a handheld showerhead). These rooms offer a luxurious experience for families or larger groups of people.
